ALLIANCE PAYS TRIBUTE TO SÉAMUS BRENNAN TD
‘The Children’s Rights Alliance would like to pass on its deepest sympathies to Mr
Brennan’s family, friends and colleagues following his death this morning.
Appointed in 2004 as Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Séamus Brennan TD
proved influential in prioritising child poverty during his three years in post. He
very clearly identified the real need to tackle child poverty during his tenure and
raised its profile by regularly highlighting the issue.
The problem of child poverty remains very much on today’s political agenda due,
in no small measure, to the work of Mr Brennan. The Alliance will always be
grateful for his commitment to the issue and stands committed in carrying on his
good work.’
