European Commission launches poster competition to mark 20th anniversary of United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.
European Commission is launching today, 20th November, 4TH edition of European Poster Competition to celebrate 20th anniversary of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, signed exactly 20 years ago. The aim of the competition is to raise awareness on the issues of the children rights and protection. The European Commission is inviting young people (from 10 to 18 years old) across Europe to work together on the theme of Children’s Rights.
Participants will be required to create a poster illustrating one of the rights stated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Candidates will be divided into 2 age categories (10-14 and 15-18) and should work together in teams of four, submitting one poster per team that illustrates their individual views on the subject.
All candidates will be judged first at national level, and prizes will be awarded to the three best teams in each age category at ceremonies to be held in each EU country on the week of 10th April 2010. The winners of the first prize in the national competition will compete in a second round at European level. The three top teams in each age group will be invited to visit Brussels from 8-10th May 2010 for a tour of the city and the European institutions and to attend a European award ceremony hosted by Vice-President Barrot. The best posters will be displayed on the websites of the Commission’s representations in the Member States and on the Europa getway?
